ASHLAND, Ohio -- Fairmont State wrapped up a 2-2 weekend at the Ashland Volleyball Invitational by splitting a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon during day two of the event.

The Falcons started the day by dropping a 5-set thriller to host Ashland University. Fairmont State jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 25-17 and 25-23 victories in the first two sets of the afternoon. However, the host Eagles regrouped and rallied to take the final three sets (25-14, 25-20, 15-12).

The Falcons wrapped up the opening weekend of the year by sweeping Felician on Saturday evening (25-18, 25-21, 25-18).

Three players reached double-figure kills for the Falcons against Ashland, including a match-high 18 kills, four blocks and three digs from
Rebecca Feeney. Freshman
Keara Lewis chipped in a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, and
Amelia Moore added 10 kills for the Falcons.
Julia DiPaola also tallied nine kills and 11 digs for the Falcons.

Sydney McCoy paced the Falcons defensively with 15 digs, while
Kelsey Moeller and Lily Keber paced the Fairmont State attack with 25 and 21 assists, respectively.

Feeney continued her big weekend against Felician in the second match of the day, recording 14 kills, three aces and three block assists. DiPaola also chipped in eight kills and nine digs, while Lewis, Moore and
Emily Suppel each tallied six kills apiece in the win.

McCoy once again led the Falcons from her libero position with 13 digs. Keber passed out 20 assists for the Falcons, while Moeller added 18.

Lewis also reached double-figures in digs with 11 during the victory over Felician.

Fairmont State will return to action next Friday at the Marauder Volleyball Clash. The Falcons will face West Chester at 2 p.m., before wrapping up the day against Millersville at 6 p.m. Friday evening.
