Cold-Shooting Falcons Drop Road Game at NDC

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Fairmont State couldn't overcome a 32 percent shooting performance and 20 turnovers on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 74-55 final to Notre Dame College in Mountain East Conference action at the Murphy Gymnasium.
 
League-leading Notre Dame improved to 13-1 overall and 7-1 in MEC play with the victory. The Lady Falcons fell to 7-7 on the year, including 4-4 in league play.
 
Notre Dame took a 26-16 advantage to the locker room and outscored the Falcons 17-8 in the first six minutes of the third quarter to grab a 19-point advantage at the 4:09 mark of the period.
 
Fairmont State was able to pull within 10 (52-42) with 8:10 remaining in the fourth, following a layup by Taylor Duplaga, but a quick 8-2 spurt by Notre Dame pushed the league back to 16 with just under six minutes remaining. From that point, Fairmont was unable to trim the lead to less than 13 points before NDC wrapped up the 19-point win.
 
Rachel Laskody led the Falcons on the afternoon with 17 points, four rebounds and two assists. Fairmont State also got 12 points and four rebounds from Brooke Kurucz, and 10 points and six rebounds from Kamrin Weimer. Sierra Kotchman finished with eight point after shooting just 4-of-13 from the field in a cold-shooting afternoon for the junior.
 
Fairmont State finished the game by hitting just 3-of-19 attempts from behind the arc and also got just eight bench points in the setback.
 
Notre Dame placed four players in double-figures, led by Seina Adachi with 17 points and 11 boards. NDC also got 15 points, six rebounds and five assists from Jada Marone, and 11 points and six rebounds from Jennifer Oduho. Kyleigh Ramlow also came off the bench and chipped in 10 points.
 
NDC shot 45 percent from the field and scored 19 points off turnovers in the victory.
 
Fairmont State will now travel to West Liberty on Wednesday evening for another MEC matchup at the ASRC. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
