CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston shot 56 percent after halftime and used an 18-6 run early in the second half to grab an 80-71 win over Fairmont State on Saturday afternoon at the Wehrle Innovation Center in Charleston.
The Golden Eagles outrebounded Fairmont State 40-29 and had a 48-36 scoring advantage in the paint during the victory. With the victory, Charleston improves to 17-3 overall, including 11-3 in Mountain East Conference play.
Fairmont State slips to 14-5 overall and 9-5 in the league.
For the game, Charleston shot 50 percent from the floor and went 14-of-21 from the free throw line. Fairmont State was wristed for 15 fouls in the second half.
Fairmont State also shot well at 46 percent for the game, but struggled from behind the arc (7-of-23) and attempted just four free throw attempts. The Falcons also turned the ball over 16 times.

Dale Bonner had 24 points and five rebounds.
Isaiah Sanders chipped in 21 points, 17 of which came in the opening half.
Cole VonHandorf was the third Falcon to reach double-figures with 17.
Drew Rackley had 20 points, six rebounds and four steals to pace UC's attack. Devon Robinson had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Seth O'Neal also poured in 18 points and had a game-high five assists, while Lamont McManus went over 1,000 points for his career and finished the afternoon with 16.
Fairmont State will return to action on Wednesday evening against Glenville State at the Waco Center. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
