FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Notre Dame College used a big third quarter to pull away from Fairmont State, 108-75, on Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference action at Joe Retton Arena.
During the game, Fairmont State junior guard
Sierra Kotchman surpassed the 1,500-point mark following her 19-point performance against NDC. Kotchman becomes just the 10
th player in program history to score 1,500 career points.
Notre Dame, who took an 11-point lead into the locker room at the half, started the second half on a 14-5 run and did not look back in the victory. The game featured six lead changes in the opening half.
NDC shot 53.6 percent from the field (45-of-84), while limiting Fairmont to just 39 percent from the field (25-of-64). Notre Dame also outrebounded Fairmont, 46-37, and was aided by 19 FSU turnovers in the win.
In addition to Kotchman's offensive performance, the junior also added eight rebounds and five assists.
Rachel Laskody also chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds, just missing a double-double. The Falcons also got 11 points from
Taylor Duplaga, and 10 points apiece from
Kamrin Weimer and
Katy Darnell.
Notre Dame was led by Kyleigh Ramlow, as she scored a game-high 27 points on 7-of-10 from behind the arc (70 percent). Jennifer Oduho and Seina Adachi each tallied 14 points, while Theresa Parr added 13 points. Five total players reached double-figures for the visitors.
Notre Dame scored 56 points in the paint, made 12 three-pointers, and scored 20 points off turnovers.
The Falcons will return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Urbana University on the road.
