FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- No. 16-ranked West Liberty shot over 61 percent from the field and pulled away for a 109-88 victory over Fairmont State during Sunday's Mountain East Conference Showcase at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena. The game was televised regionally on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh.

With the victory, West Liberty earned at least a share of the Mountain East Conference Regular Season Title as the 'Toppers improved to 22-4 overall and 17-3 in the league. Fairmont State's six-game winning streak came to an end as the Falcons fell to 20-6 overall and 14-6 in MEC play.

The Hilltoppers attacked the paint early in the game before the inside success led to open shots from behind the arc. West Liberty ended the game with 50 points in the paint, and also drained 15-of-35 attempts from behind the arc (42.9%).

WLU also held a 37-24 rebounding advantage and scored 17 second-chance points in the win.

West Liberty made 43-of-70 field goal attempts (61.4%) in the game and stretched a 16-point halftime lead (56-42) to as many as 28 late in the second half.

Fairmont State also had a solid evening on the offensive end, shooting 48 percent from the field with 10 three-pointers. The Falcons also made 22-of-28 attempts from the charity stripe.

The Falcons had four players reach double-figures, including a team-high 24 points from
Przemyslaw Golek.
Dale Bonner also chipped in 20 points and seven assists, while
Isaiah Sanders added 18 points for the Falcons.
Cole VonHandorf also reached double-figures with 17.

Dalton Bolon led the way for West Liberty with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Will Yoakum also chipped in 21 points. Marlon Moore Jr. (18) and Pat Robinson (17) each came off the bench and reached double-figures for the 'Toppers.

Fairmont State will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday evening against West Virginia Wesleyan. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. at Dan Cava Court inside Joe Retton Arena.
