FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- On Tuesday night, Fairmont State women's volleyball took on the Mountain East Conference North Division leaders of Wheeling and the Cardinals took the match in three sets (25-8, 25-21, 25-21) inside Joe Retton Arena.
The Falcons are now 17-7 on the year and 7-3 in MEC play while WU improves to 18-5 and 9-1 in conference play.
Keara Lewis led FSU on the attack with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .258 in three sets.
Julia DiPaola was close behind with 11 kills on the evening and
Nyla Birch added five.
Lilianna Keber started the offense for the Falcons with 26 assists and tallied six digs.
For Wheeling, Kayla Bekier and Lexi Reinert each contributed 11 kills in the contest and Karly Niesen led the charge with a match-high 31 assists.
Niesen added 11 digs with Audrey Francis tallying 14 digs for the Cardinals.
FSU (17-7, 7-3 MEC) is back at Joe Retton Arena on Friday when they host West Virginia State University. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday night.
