Fairmont State Heads to #9 Notre Dame for Saturday Clash

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Football is back on the field when they head to South Euclid, Ohio for a matchup with the Falcons of Notre Dame College on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Mueller Field.

The Falcons of Fairmont State enter the contest with a record of 3-5 and 3-4 in the Mountain East Conference. The Falcons of NDC are on a three-game win streak and sport a season record of 7-1 and 6-1 in MEC play.

In the latest American Football Coaches Association poll, Notre Dame is ranked ninth nationally with one top 25 win over Frostburg State on October 9 in South Euclid.

Scouting Fairmont State

Head Football Coach Jason Woodman and his Falcons enter Saturday's contest averaging 333.9 yards per game on the offense and noteworthy 5.4 yards per play from scrimmage. Xander Albea leads the rushing attack for Fairmont with 455 rushing yards and averages 5.0 yards per carry. Myles Miree and Michael Floria each have broken the 100 total rushing yards on the season with Miree at 192 yards and Floria notching 103 yards on 23 attempts.

Connor Neal has been the main passer for the Falcons but hasn't thrown a pass in an official game since September 25th at UNC Pembroke. Neal has completed 48 of his 94 passes and has thrown for 754 yards through the air. Michael Floria has come on in relief for Neal as he started three games after Neal's injury and threw for 792 yards and leads the team with 11 passing touchdowns.

Anthony Guercio made his first start of his career for Fairmont State last week versus Frostburg State and threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon.

Three Falcon receivers have caught more than one touchdown on the season with Joshawn Lewis (5), Javon Hayes (4), and Shawn Harris (4) each contributing in many ways. Hayes leads the way for the receiving corps as he has hauled in 34 passes for 634 yards in eight games. Shawn and Harris follow with 458 and 436 respectively for Fairmont State.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brocton Blair ushers the Falcons with 55 total tackles and one sack in eight games. Eight Fairmont State defensive players have recorded an interception in a game this season with Devin Jackson and Kaire Umoja collecting two interceptions on the season.

Scouting Notre Dame

The Notre Dame College Falcons enter the last week of October on a three-game winning streak and are ranked number nine in the latest AFCA poll.

Chris Brimm leads the potent offensive attack for NDC with 1,947 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns in his senior campaign. The Falcons average 37.38 points per game and are third in conference scoring with 33.3 points per game through eight MEC games.

Brimm also adds three rushing touchdowns to his year as he has netted 107 total rushing yards in the season. Tyris Dickerson is the main carrier for the Falcons with 140 attempts for 711 yards and has found paydirt five times.

Devanaire Conliffe is Brimm's favorite target on the team with 33 receptions for 570 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in eight games for the pair.

For the Falcons' defense, NDC is third overall in average points per game with 18.6 in conference games and leads the MEC with 13 total interceptions. Fairmont State is fourth in the league with 10.

Guam Lee leads the aggressive defense for Notre Dame as he enters the week with 61 total tackles and has collected seven sacks on the year. Lee is fourth in MEC contests having collected 12.5 tackles for loss in eight fixtures.
