Fairmont State Held in Check at Notre Dame

SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO -- On Saturday afternoon, Fairmont State made the trip to the campus of Notre Dame College for a Mountain East Conference football matchup and the Falcons of NDC took the victory by the final of 45-0. 

Fairmont State is now 3-6 overall and 3-5 in MEC play while NDC is 8-7 and 7-1 in conference action,

The Fighting Falcons started the day with the ball and earned a first down before Notre Dame forced Fairmont State to punt the ball away and took over at their own 29 yard line.

NDC went on an eight play, 71 yard drive that resulted in seven points for the home side with 8:24 remaining in the first quarter. Notre Dame scored on their next offensive possession and doubled their total to 14-0.

Notre Dame tacked on 10 more points before halftime and earned the 45-0 victory through four quarters.

Connor Neal got the start for Fairmont State and threw for 135 yards on 15-23 with Shawn Harris hauling in seven catches for 64 yards for the Falcons. Myles Miree was the lead back for Fairmont as he carried the ball 14 times for 34 rushing yards.

Defensively, Brocton Blair led the Falcons with 12 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Danny Anige followed with 11 total tackles and racked up two tackles for loss on the afternoon.

For NDC, Chris Brimm was efficient in the air going 23-29 for 305 passing yards and five touchdowns. Devanaire Conliffe was Brimm's favorite target in the contest catching eight balls for 151 yards and three scores.

Fairmont State (3-6, 3-5 MEC) returns to the Mountain State when they travel to Glenville State (2-6, 2-6 MEC) for MEC matchup next Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside I.L. and Sue Morris Stadium.
