Falcons Power Past West Virginia State on Senior Day

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State women's soccer picked up a 6-0 victory over West Virginia State in Mountain East Conference play as Ella Wilson, Angelina Kaylor, and Shannon Westfall were honored prior to kickoff for Senior Day festivities.

The Falcons improve to 7-6-2 overall and 7-5-2 in MEC play while WVSU is 10-5-1 and 9-4-1 in MEC action.

Women's soccer held most of the possession throughout the contest and scored two goals early with Angelina Kaylor scoring in the seventh minute mark and Kiera Kuzinski following with a goal of her own in the eighth minute.

The Falcons continued their aggressive pace with a goal by Mackenzie Gillispie in the 26th minute off a cross from Kuzinski to make the advantage 3-0 in favor of Fairmont.

Fairmont State capitalized again as Alyssa Weaver finished the ball into the back of the net from Kaylor at the 27th minute mark and pushed the Falcon lead to 4-0 heading into the halftime break.

The Maroon and White continued quality possession and control of the ball as the Yellow Jackets were unable to get a shot on goal as Gracie Smith and Elizabeth Crowe found goals as well for the Fighting Falcons in the 83rd and 84th minutes of play to give the final score of 6-0.

Fairmont State outshot WVSU 31-1 with the advantage on shots on goal being 14-0. West Virginia State's Ashley collected six saves in the first half and Olivia Bird stopped two chances on net against the Falcons.

Falcon Women's Soccer (7-6-2, 7-5-2 MEC) is back at Duvall-Rosier Field on Wednesday night for their regular season home finale when they host the University of Charleston (12-4, 11-3 MEC) in conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
