FROSTBURG, Md. -- Fairmont State women's soccer collected an 1-1 draw with the Bobcats of Frostburg State in Mountain East Conference play to round out the regular season portion of the 2021 fall schedule.
Kiera Kuzinski got the Falcons on the board first as she finished a ball from
Marina Laub to collect her 10th goal of the season at the 14th minute of action.
Kuzinski continued to fire shots but was unable to find the goal and push the Falcon advantage to two goals. Frostburg State made the score even as Catherine Smith converted a swinging corner kick from Keely Knotts in the 44th minute of regulation.
Fairmont State would have quality chances in the second half as
Jessica Schneider had three shots on goal as two were saved by the Bobcats' goalkeeper one hitting of the woodwork of the goal.
Frostburg State added shots on target as well, but
Taylor Kennedy was up for the challenge with 11 stops on the evening against the Bobcats.
In both overtime periods, both squads had chances but were turned away by both goalies to draw the match square at one apiece.
Schneider and Kuzinski mustered two shots on goal each with Kuzinski's shot finding the back of the net early in the first half.
Fairmont State (7-7-3,7-6-3 MEC) enters next week's MEC Tournament as the number two team from the MEC North Division. The Falcons carry a home record of 5-3-1 at Duvall-Rosier Field and are 2-4-2 away from Fairmont.
