FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- On Tuesday afternoon, Fairmont State hosted Notre Dame College in the first round of the Mountain East Conference women's soccer tournament in which the Fighting Falcons defeated NDC 2-0 at Duvall-Rosier Field.

Ari Christiansen were honored prior to match as they earned All-MEC First Team recognized by the conference office today.
Kiera Kuzinski got the first quality chance of the match at the fifth minute mark as
Angelina Kaylor sent a ball from midfield that Kuzinski split the defenders and headed the ball into the back of the net to give Fairmont the goal advantage over NDC.
Notre Dame looked for the equalizer in the first half as Sammy Salatino had two shots on target, but Fairmont State's goalkeeper
Taylor Kennedy was up for the challenge and kept the shutout through the first half.
Kuzinski added another goal in the 40th minute off a clearance attempt from Notre Dame and doubled the Fighting Falcon lead to 2-0 before the halftime break.
In the start of the second half, NDC's Isabel Sentle sent a shot but was collected by Kennedy in the 49th minute and Notre Dame would only have one other shot on goal in the match that was stopped by Kennedy for Fairmont State victory over the visitors.
Kuzinski had three shots on goal with two finding the back of the net as
Jessica Schneider fired two shots on target and
Marina Laub added a shot on goal as well.
Fairmont State's Kennedy had four saves in the contest and held the Falcons of Notre Dame scoreless for her fourth shutout on the season.
Fairmont State women's soccer advances to the semifinals of the MEC Tournament on Friday, November 12th when they travel to face the MEC South Division leader Concord. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Beckley.
