GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Women's Basketball traveled to Glenville State to take on the No. 8 Pioneers as
Jalen Gibbs collected 25 points in the 110-84 loss inside the Waco Center.
Fairmont State is now 6-3 overall and 5-1 in Mountain East Conference play while GSC improves their season record to 9-0 and 5-0 in conference action.
The Fighting Falcons took their biggest lead of the game at 11-6 after
Sierra Kotchman made a jumper with 7:18 remaining in the first quarter before Glenville State went on a 23-2 run to close out the quarter.
The Pioneers extended their lead in the second quarter with the halftime score being 59-32 in favor of Glenville State. The Pioneers finished the 110-84 advantage over Fairmont State on Monday afternoon
Gibbs shot 10-11 from the floor for 25 total points and seven rebounds.
Alyssa DeAngelo and
Bre Wilson followed Gibbs with 12 points apiece and
Katy Darnell rounded out the Falcons in double-figures with 10.
The Falcons were 32-72 (44.4%) from the field as they had four three-pointers and were 16-17 from the free-throw line. Fairmont State turned the ball over 20 times which led to 32 points off turnovers for GSC and Glenville State held the edge in in fast break points, 38-7.
Fairmont State Women's Basketball (6-3, 5-1 MEC) is back at Joe Retton Arena on Saturday, December 18th when they host Salem University (2-7) in a non-conference tilt at 2 p.m.Â
