PHILADELPHIA -- On Saturday afternoon, #14 Fairmont State Men's Basketball finished their road trip to New Jersey and Pennsylvania with a 94-55 victory over the University of the Sciences. Four Fighting Falcons finished in double-figures in points with
Isaiah Sanders leading the way with 21 points.
USciences got out to an early 5-0 lead off two made baskets from Sean Simon at the 18:23 mark before Sanders and
George Mangas tied the score at five with 17:16 left in the first half. The Falcons took their first lead of the game off a Mangas' basket at 9-7 and did not allow USciences to regain the advantage the rest of the way.
Briggs Parris buried a three-pointer to make the score 28-18 in favor of the Falcons at the 9:05 mark and Sanders made a triple to put Fairmont State up 31-18 on the ensuing possession. The Falcons built the lead to 32 points before the University of the Sciences collected a made field with three seconds in the first half as Fairmont State held the 59-29 margin.
In the second half, USciences got within 29 points of the Falcons before Parris knocked in another three-pointer and a made basket from
Kyle Whippen gave Fairmont State the 36-point cushion. The Falcons cruised to the 94-55 victory over USciences as all nine players for the Falcons who saw the floor scored in the contest.
Mangas (19 points), Parris (17 points), and
Cole VonHandorf (12 points) joined Sanders in double-digit points on the day as Fairmont State shot 55.4% (36-65) from the floor. The Falcons collected 10 from beyond the arc and were efficient from the free-throw line going 12-15.
Fairmont State held USciences to 43.1% on the day as the Falcons dominated in all categories listed on the boxscore.
