FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- No. 25-ranked Fairmont State opened up a 57-29 halftime lead and rolled to a 101-67 Mountain East Conference win over Alderson Broaddus on Monday evening inside Joe Retton Arena. Fairmont State shot nearly 69 percent from the field in the opening half to break open a close game just four minutes into the first half.

With the victory, Fairmont State improves to 4-1 both overall and in the MEC. AB fell to 4-4 on the season.

The Falcons were able to score from all over the court this evening, finishing with 40 points in the paint, 25 points in transition and also drained 12 shots from behind the arc in the victory. The Falcons also racked up 26 assists on 36 made baskets.

Fairmont State also forced 18 AB turnovers on the defensive end.

Five players reached double-figures for the Falcons, including a team-high 22 points and nine assists from
Dale Bonner. The Falcons also got 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists from
Zyon Dobbs.
Brendan Paul, a transfer from Syracuse, also provided solid minutes off the FSU bench on Monday evening, finishing with 16 points after knocking down four 3-pointers. The Falcons also got 15 points from
Isaiah Sanders and 10 points and 10 rebounds from
Seth Younkin.

The Falcons held a 43-36 rebounding advantage.

For the game, the Falcons shot 54.5 percent from the field (36-66), while limiting Alderson Broaddus to 36.4 percent in the game (24-66). The Battlers were also just 9-of-30 from three (30.0%) and 10-of-18 (55.6%) from the free throw line.

AB got a team-high 17 points from Coryon Rice. Christian Miller-Cardwell also reached double-figures with 11 in the loss.

Fairmont State will now prepare for a 7:30 p.m. showdown with the University of Charleston on Wednesday evening. UC comes into the game with a 6-2 overall record and is coming off a 78-74 upset win over No. 9 West Liberty on Saturday afternoon.
