Big Second Half Helps Notre Dame Upset Fairmont State, 96-85

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame College shot nearly 57 percent from the field and scored 55 second-half points in a 96-85 upset win over Fairmont State on Monday evening at the Murphy Gymnasium.
 
The loss drops Fairmont's record to 10-3 both overall and in the Mountain East Conference and snapped the Falcons' six-game winning streak. NDC is now 6-8 on the season.
 
Notre Dame shot 60 percent from the field in the first half and continued to shoot well after halftime, connecting on 53 percent of its shots in the second half. NDC held a 36-24 advantage on the glass and also scored 48 points in the paint and 26 points on the fast-break in the victory.
 
Fairmont State shot 47 percent from the field, but struggled on the defensive end, forcing just eight turnovers.
 
Dale Bonner scored a career-high 35 points in the game, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and 11-of-12 from the free throw line. The Falcons also got 16 points and five rebounds from Isaiah Sanders, and 14 points, six rebounds and four assists from Zyon Dobbs. Cole VonHandorf and Przemyslaw Golek also scored seven point apiece for the Falcons.
 
Jordan Roland and Michael Sampson both had big days for Notre Dame on the offensive end, scoring 24 and 21 points, respectively, in the win. Tyland Crawford also chipped in 17 for NDC.
 
Fairmont State will return to action on Wednesday evening at No. 22 West Liberty. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. at the ASRC.
