Kuzinski Scores Two In Fairmont State Win Over AB

Falcons win third game in a row

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Kiera Kuzinski netted two goals to lead Fairmont State to a 2-0 home victory over Alderson Broaddus on Monday evening in Mountain East Conference soccer action at Duvall-Rosier Field.

With the win, Fairmont State stretches its current win streak to three games and improves to 4-0-3 on the season. AB fell to 0-5-2 on the year.

Kuzinski netted her first goal of the game in the 22nd minute following a steal and lead-pass by Kaitlyn Riggleman that set up a breakaway goal for the freshman forward.

That 1-0 lead held until the 56th minute when Kuzinski took control of a loose ball in the offensive zone and broke away for a 1-on-1 shot attempt against the Alderson Broaddus keeper. The two-goal performance gives Kuzinski a team-high five goals on the season. Monday was also Kuzinski's second multiple-goal game of the season.

In addition to the offensive performance, the FSU defense also turned in a strong performance on Monday evening, allowing just two shots on goal. Both on-target shot attempts by AB were saved by Taylor Kennedy, who recorded her fifth shutout of the season in the FSU goal. Kennedy now has 17 collegiate shutouts as a two-year starter for the Falcons.

Fairmont State spent most of the night on the attack with 20 total shot attempts and nine shots on goal. The Falcons also had four corner kicks.

Fairmont State will wrap up the regular season on Friday evening at division-leading Notre Dame College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. in South Euclid.
