AVON, Ohio -- Fairmont State wrapped up its four-game series against Notre Dame College with a doubleheader split on Monday afternoon in Avon, Ohio.

Notre Dame won in decisive fashion in game one with a 9-1 win, before the Falcons rebounded and earned a 4-3 win in game two during the late afternoon hours.

Game 1

In game one, Notre Dame scored runs in five of the seven innings and ran away with the victory. The NDC offensive performance featured five extra-base hits in the win, including a trio of home runs by Ben Ross, Jacob Fonderlin and Aaron Miller. Ross and Matt Richards each had doubles in the game.

Fairmont State struggled early in the day with just two hits in game one. Fairmont State's lone run of the game came in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by
Zach Musgrove, his second home run of the series and fourth of the season.

Jacob Goodnight recorded the only other hit in the game for the Falcons.

Game 2
Â
Notre Dame once again jumped out to an early lead in game two, scoring one run in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the third.

However, Fairmont State plated four runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good.
E.J. Trickett started the scoring for Fairmont State with an RBI double that scored
Jarrod Jones early in the inning. Then, with the bases loaded, Goodnight smashed a double into right field to clear the bases and give the Falcons a 4-3 lead.
Justin Brown, Trickett and
Vince Sabatino each scored on Goodnight's double.

Connor Cramer (3-0) earned the win for the Falcons on the hill, pitching six innings and allowing just five hits and three runs (two earned). Cramer also recorded four strikeouts in the win.
Steven Ricketts (S,4) pitched the seventh inning for the Falcons and earned the save after recording the final three outs in the win.

Trickett led the Falcons at the plate in game two with a 2-for-3 hitting performance. Both of Trickett's hits were doubles.

Fairmont State will return home to host Alderson Broaddus in a four-game series this coming weekend at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex. Game one of the series is set for Saturday at 3 p.m.
