GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State baseball team split a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at Glenville State, 5-8, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at the Sue Morris Complex in Glenville.

In game one with Glenville State leading 2-0, the Falcons knotted the game at two runs apiece after an error by the Pioneer third-baseman that allowed
Tyler Haskins and
E.J. Trickett to score. Later in the inning, P.J. Lanham hammered a triple to right field to bring home
Jacob Goodnight for a third unearned run in the inning.

GSC tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on a wild pitch, before taking a 6-3 advantage in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run inning.

E.J. Trickett cut the Glenville advantage to 6-5 in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run to right field that scored
Rafael Ramos. However, GSC would answer in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run from Tyler Phillips to make the eventual final score 8-5 in favor of the Pioneers.

Six different players recorded hits for the Falcons in game one. Half of Fairmont State's six hits were extra-base hits.

Following the setback in game one, Fairmont State jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning of game two. Haskins got the Falcons started with an RBI double to right field to score
Justin Brown from all the way at first.

Later in the first with two runners on, Trickett blasted a double into center field to score Lanham and Haskins from second and third, respectively.

Haskins made it 4-0 Fairmont State in the top of the second on an RBI single to center field that scored
Chris Green from second base. Green led off the inning with a single and was moved into scoring position by a sacrifice bunt later in the inning.

Glenville finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Phillips and Ryker Rivera drove in runs to make the Fairmont State advantage just two runs at 4-2.

In the top of the seventh, Goodnight added one more Fairmont State run on an RBI single to left field to make the score 5-2. In the bottom half of the inning, Conner Cramer recorded the final three outs to lock up the Fairmont State win and the split.

Luke Paull pitched four and two-thirds innings and allowed just two runs on two hits to pick up the win. Paull recorded seven K's. Cramer pitched and two and one-thirds innings and didn't allow a run or hit to pick up the save – his first of the season.

Haskins and Goodnight each went 2-for-4 in game two. Six different players recorded a hit in the game for the Falcons.

Fairmont State will now travel to Concord for a Mountain East Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. against the Mountain Lions.
