WHEELING, W.Va. – Fairmont State's
Emma Delk netted two goals in Fairmont State's 2-1 road victory over Wheeling University on Friday evening at Bishop Schmitt Field.
Delk also netted a goal in the second half of Monday's win over West Liberty.
Delk's first goal came in the 15
th minute and was assisted by
Kiera Kuzinski to give the Falcons to 1-0 advantage. The freshman also added an unassisted goal in the 21
st minute to give the Falcons control of the game early.
The 2-0 score held until the 64
th minute when Wheeling's Braedynn Porter set up Kendra Benzel for the first goal of the game for the Cardinals.
From that point, however, Fairmont State kept Wheeling off the scoreboard and held off the home team in the final 26 minutes of play.
Delk took four total shots in the game and placed three on-goal.
Mackenzie Gillispie also took a trio of shots for the Falcons, while Kuzinski took a pair of on-target attempts.
Wheeling recorded just two shots on goal in the game, one of which put the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the second half, while
Taylor Kennedy recorded a save on the second on-goal attempt.
Fairmont State will return to action on Monday evening in its home finale against Alderson Broaddus. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
