Athens, W. VA., -- Fairmont State Football gets a huge road win and knocks off previously unbeaten Concord. They're now on a 2 game winning streak. It was a defensive of battle today that Fairmont State came out on top of 10-9.
Fairmont State offense got rolling early and had a 6 play 69 yard drive capped off by a Sergie Buchheit 34 yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead. Concord responded with a field goal themselves to tie things up 3-3. Midway through the second quarter Fairmont State had an impressive 12 play 73 yard drive finished off with a
Michael Floria two yard rushing touchdown. They took that 10-3 lead into the half.
The second half was a defensive battle where there was combined 9 punts from both teams. Both defenses stood tall and forced two turnover on downs as well. Concord got the ball back with a back with two minutes left to try and tie up the game. Their offense put their best drive together since the first quarter and scored a touchdown with about :38 seconds left in the game. Riding the momentum Concord went for two and the win but the Fighting Falcons defense stood tall and made the play of the day getting the stop. The stop proved to be the difference and Fairmont State secured the big road win.

Michael Floria had 178 yards of total offense and a rushing touchdown.
