Fairmont, W.Va., -- The Football team couldn't overcome turnovers and lose a heartbreaker in overtime 27-24 to West Liberty. The first half was pretty quiet and the score at halftime was 0-0. The second half was a wild one.
West Liberty took advantage of 3 turnovers, a recovered an onside kick and a muffed punt to take a 21-0 lead into the 4th quarter. Fairmont State had chances as they had the ball in the red zone twice but we couldn't capitalize. Fairmont State finally punched one early in the 4th quarter to cut into the West Liberty lead. It was a
Michael Floria 15 yard touchdown pass to
Joshawn Lewis that started the comeback.
Michael Floria threw a touchdown pass to
Carter Giacomo and
Naseem Pacheco to score 14 unanswered points and tie the ball game up with little time remaining. West Liberty was trying to get into field goal range but
Eltayeb Bushra got a interception to force overtime.
West Liberty won the toss and chose to defend first. Fairmont State was driving but was stopped and forced to attempt a field goal.
Sergei Buchheit connected on a 27 yard field goal to give the fighting falcons their first lead of the game. Unfortunately it was short lived as West Liberty scored in 4 plays to seal the win on the road 27-24.
Leading the offense again was
Myles Miree rushing for 175 yards on 35 carries. It was the 6th game in a row that he rushed for over 100 yards.
Michael Floria was 23 of 31 for 344 yards 3 Touchdowns and 2 Interceptions. The leading receiver for the Falcons was Naseem Pacheo catching 7 balls for 108 yards and 1 touchdown. Three other receivers had 4 catches each

Jeremiah Taylor.
Leading the defense was
Brocton Blair with 13 tackles and
Jovon Jackson with 10 tackles. The defense held West Liberty to 13 first downs and 225 yards of total offense.
Eltayeb Bushra and
Quinton Young both had interceptions. The Fighting Falcons are back in action next Thursday October 20th at Frostburg State at 7:00pm.
