No. 8 Fairmont State Acrobatics & Tumbling Earns Victory over Frostburg State in Home Opener

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The eighth-ranked Fairmont State Acrobatics & Tumbling team outscored Frostburg State in all but one event in a season-opening win against the Bobcats on Sunday afternoon.

The Fighting Falcons took the final by a score of 252.570-247.840 inside Joe Retton Arena with Frostburg State picking up the event win in pyramid portion of the meet with an event total of 28.50 to Fairmont State's 24.35.

Fairmont State regained the momentum and the lead back after the halftime break with event wins in the toss (26.20-24.90), tumbling event (52.550-50.750), and the team event (87.52-85.34).

The Falcons' first half-performance was highlighted by a 9.70 in the pyramid heat of the compulsory event and 9.60 in the open heat of the pyramid event.

In the last heat of the tumbling event, Alexis Smith scored a 9.500 on her open pass with Zara Christophe notching a 9.325 score in the six-element pass.

Fairmont State (1-0, 0-0 MEC) is back in action on Friday, February 18th when the Falcons travel to No.6 Gannon University (2-0, 0-0) for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. with the Golden Knights.
