BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Men's Basketball used a 10-0 run in the first half to down West Virginia Wesleyan in the Rockefeller Center on Wednesday night, 93-78.
The Fighting Falcons are now 21-5 on the season and 16-5 in Mountain East Conference play while the Bobcats fall to 2-25 on the year and 1-20 in MEC action.
Myles Monroe also came back for his first game since Decmber 4th, 2021 as Monroe saw 18 minutes of game action with five points, four assists and three rebounds.
Zyon Dobbs collected a game-high 21 points on 8-15 shooting as
Isaiah Sanders registered 19 points.
Briggs Parris (15 points),
George Mangas (14 points), and
Cole VonHandorf (12 points) each contributed in double-figures for the Falcons on the night.
Fairmont State found themselves down by five points early in the first half before a 10-0 run in 3:09 minutes pushed the Falcons to a 25-21 advantage over WVWC. Mangas scored a fastbreak layup at the 8:19 mark in the first half to grow the Falcon lead to 12 points. Fairmont State headed into the locker room with the 47-38 margin after 20 minutes of action.
The Falcons controlled the pace in the second half as Fairmont State held leads of 21 points three times during the second half in Buckhannon. Dobbs hit a jumper with 4:48 left in the second as Fairmont State won 93-78 inside the Rockefeller Center.
As a team, Fairmont State shot 56.5% (35-62) from the field with 10 three-pointers on the night and went 13-15 from the free-throw line. The Falcons assisted on 21 of their 35 baskets in the evening.
Fairmont State (21-5, 16-5 MEC) heads to Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon for a MEC matchup with the Bobcats. The contest is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start from Frostburg State's Bobcat Arena.
