BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Women's Basketball improved to 14-12 on the season and 12-9 in Mountain East Conference as the Fighting Falcons downed West Virginia Wesleyan, 80-49, on Wednesday night.
Sierra Kotchman led all scorers with 21 points on seven made three-pointers as
Katy Darnell collected her fourth double-double on the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Alyssa DeAngelo had 14 points to follow Kotchman and
Jertaya Hall had an efficient night with 12 points on 5-7 from the field with four rebounds. As a team, Fairmont State shot 44.6% (29-65) from the field with 13 three-pointers.
The Fighting Falcons started the game on a 10-0 run and did not allow the Bobcats within four points of their lead the rest of the contest.
Madeline Huffman knocked in a three-pointer at the 2:32 mark of the first quarter to push the Falcon lead to 20-6.
Through 40 minutes of action, Fairmont State posted an 80-49 victory inside the Rockefeller Center as the Falcons held the advantage in fastbreak points, 16-2.
Fairmont State (14-12, 12-9 MEC) remains on the road as the Falcons round out their regular season at Frostburg State (5-22, 4-17 MEC). The game is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Frostburg State's Bobcat Arena.
