FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State women's tennis hosted No. 49 West Virginia State on Wednesday afternoon at home as the Yellow Jackets collected the 6-1 Mountain East Conference victory.
Ainara Pastor Garcia earned the win at the No. 1 court in the singles portion of the dual match as her opponent from WVSU retired with Pastor Garcia up 4-1 in the first set.
In the doubles portion, Pastor Garcia and
Emme McKnight were paired together at the No.1 court as the Falcon duo were up a break at 2-1 early in the set. The Yellow Jackets took the set, 6-3, to sweep the doubles point.
Candela Sevilla battled in her singles match on the No. 2 court against WVSU's Tuva Wallin, but Wallin won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
Fairmont State (7-6, 2-2 MEC) heads to Elkins, W.Va. on Saturday afternoon for a match with the Senators of Davis & Elkins.
