FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Fairmont State Director of Athletics has named Brooke Sullivan as the new head softball coach of the Fighting Falcon softball program. Sullivan is slated to start her coaching tenure on August 1.
Sullivan arrives at Fairmont State after being the assistant softball coach at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania since 2020. In 2022, Sullivan and the Griffins appeared in their first ever Division II National Championship. SHU finished the year as the winningest team in program history at 42-12 and earned back-to-back Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West titles.
"Brooke brings a solid winning culture with her from Seton Hill and looks to continue the same success here at Fairmont State," said Bamberger. "The softball program will continue to move in the right direction after the program's MEC Championship in the spring."
Â
"I am incredibly humbled and honored to be named the next softball head coach at Fairmont State University," said Sullivan. "I am more than excited to get to Fairmont and to continue to build the program into a top contender in both the Mountain East Conference and onto the national stage!"
Â
"I would like to thank
Greg Bamberger and the entire athletic leadership team for this exciting new opportunity," stated Sullivan. "I would also like to thank Jess Strong and the incredible staff at Seton Hill for all of the tremendous support!"
Â
At Seton Hill, Sullivan prepared the softball team for all practices and games and was responsible for compiling scouting details and recruiting prospective student-athletes to campus.
Â
Prior to Seton Hill, Sullivan was a graduate assistant at Frostburg State for two years under head coach Bill Vasko. In her first season with the Bobcats, Sullivan helped the team to 17 wins and a trip to the CAC Tournament.
Â
In her four-year collegiate career with NCAA Division I George Mason University, Sullivan had a career batting average of .267 with 27 doubles, 46 runs batted in, and 52 walks. As a senior, Sullivan posted career bests in the categories of batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, RBIs, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, games played, and at-bats. The 14 doubles her senior season are the third most in a single season in school history.
Â
"I cannot wait to begin the new era of Fairmont State softball. Let's go Falcons!", said Sullivan.
Â
She was an NCAA Senior CLASS Award Nominee and served as the Assistant Activities Director for the Sport Management Society during her final year at GMU.
A native of Newville, Pennsylvania, Sullivan earned her bachelor's degree in Health, Fitness & Recreational Resources from George Mason in 2018 before earning her master's degree in General Management from Frostburg State in 2022.
