Soccer wins 2-0 over West Liberty

Soccer improves to 2-1-2 on the year

Fairmont, W. VA., -- The Fairmont State Women's Soccer team was able to get their first win at Duvall-Rosier Field this season against the Hilltoppers of West Liberty University, 2-0. This improves the Falcons record to 2-1-1 in conference play. Fairmont State will move to second place within the MEC North Division.

The Falcons came out on fire in the first half, where they controlled much of the possession. Mackenzie Gillespie was able to capitalize on a moment in the 19th minute. The senior midfielder used her head on this opportunity to give her team a 1-0 lead. In the 28th minute, junior forward, Kiera Kuzinski, was able to find the back of the net, where she took a shot from the corner of the 18-yard box. 

In total, Fairmont State had 17 shots in the contest. They were able to defend their 2-0 lead for the rest of the match.

The Falcons will look to continue their success when they travel to Frostburg, Maryland to face the Bobcats of Frostburg State University this Wednesday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m.
