The Fairmont State Women's Soccer team defeated the Senators of Davis & Elkins College, 3-1, in a contest on Thursday evening. This improves the Falcon's record to 3-2-3.
The Falcons were tested to come back after a free kick right outside the box in the 20th minute, that hit the back of the net for the Senators. Defensively, the Fairmont State side held off 13 D&E shots, with 6 being on goal. Goalkeeper, Taylor Kennedy, had 5 saves in the game.Â
The scoring for the Falcons came in the 36th minute, when forward Kiera Kuzinski finished off an assist from Alejandro Puerto. This made it 1-1 to end the first half. Â
Fairmont State was determined to come out in the second half to win the game, which is just what they did. Sophomore, Alyssa Weaver, found freshman, Ale Puerto, in the 70th minute to make the score 2-1. Puerto was able to beat the D&E defense again in the 86th minute to make the score 3-1. Â
The Falcons are back at Duvall-Rosier Field this Sunday, October 2nd, where they will face Concord University at 1:00 p.m. Â
