FAIRMONT, W.Va. – George Mangas shot 10-of-12 from the field and finished with a career-high 25 points in the Fairmont State men's basketball (13-4, 8-3 Mountain East Conference) 93-78 home win versus Davis & Elkins (9-8, 3-8 MEC) on Wednesday (Jan. 18) at Joe Retton Arena.

Mangas, who led all scorers, made 10 two-point baskets and five shots from the free-throw line. He added four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block to go along with the 25 points. Reigning MEC Player of the Week
Isaiah Sanders scored 20 or more points for the sixth time this season. The Sicklerville, N.J. native climbed to the 13
th spot in the Fairmont State all-time leading scorers list in the game and has scored 1,813 points as a Falcon. Sanders led Fairmont State in steals (4) and assists (4).
Fonz Hale led the Falcons with seven rebounds and chipped in 11 points.
Briggs Parris scored 14 points and dished out a pair of assists.

Fairmont State jumped out to a 9-2 lead after scoring nine unanswered points to force an early Senators' timeout. D&E regained the lead with 15:07 left in the first half. With the Falcons trailing by one point,
Tariq Woody slammed home a dunk that started an 8-0 run for the home team. Mangas completed the run with a fastbreak layup after a Hale steal. Sanders connected on a three to put the Falcons ahead by double digits for the first time in the game with 8:31 left in the half. D&E cut the deficit to four points twice in the final 10 minutes of the half. A six-point Fairmont State run pushed the lead back to double figures for the Falcons with 4:09 remaining. Mangas found Woody in the paint for a layup in the final minute of play and Fairmont State led 47-35 after one half of action.

The Senators went on their largest scoring run of the game at the beginning of the second half and trimmed the Fairmont State lead to five points. A three from Vadim Clanet put the Senators within one possession with 14:42 left in the second half. After a Fairmont State timeout, Hale made a jump shot and a pair of free throws to push the home team's lead up to seven. Sam Rolle IV forced a steal and finished with a layup on the other end that put D&E behind three points once again. A steal and dunk by Mangas shifted the momentum back into Fairmont State's favor. Following Mangas' steal and finish, Sanders made a layup and a three that put the Falcons back in front by 11 points with 8:48 to go. Davis & Elkins would not trail by less than eight points in the final six minutes of play, and Fairmont State won its fifth-straight game.
