FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Fairmont State swimming team began Mountain East Conference competition on Saturday (Oct. 28) on the road at Frostburg State. The men's team fell 154-105 while the women's team was defeated 208-49 versus the Bobcats.
The men's 200 yard medley relay team of
Patrick Fubio, Zack Bishop,
Carter Redelman and
Grant Ridenour took home first place in the first relay of the afternoon with a time of 1:50.36.
Gabriel Peragallo was the top finisher in the 200 meter freestyle and touchded the wall in 2:01.51. Zach Groe earned a first-place finish for Fairmont State in the 100 meter backstroke and recorded a time of 1:03.25.
Patrick Fubio won the 200 meter butterfly at a time of 2:18.99 for his first individual win of the afternoon. Peragallo edged the field in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 24.70.
Patrick Fubio again won first place in the 200 meter backstroke and won by more than four seconds at a time of 2:16.01.
Patrick Fubio completed his impressive afternoon by claiming first in the 200 meter IM with a time of 2:16.56.
On the women's side,
Mia Abruzzino placed second in the 800 meter freestyle with a time of 10:01.02.
Zoe Hoover recorded a time of 1:11.98 in the 100 meter backstroke for third place and earned second place in the 50 meter freestyle after touching the wall in 28.77.
Cassidy Driver earned points for the Falcons after collecting second place in the 200 meter breaststroke after finishing at 3:03.61.
Kayla Fogle and Hoover added a combined five points to the Falcons' score after taking home third and fourth place in the 100 meter butterfly.
The Fairmont State swimming team will compete in its home opener next Saturday (Nov. 4) when the Falcons host a tri-meet versus Emory & Henry and Bethany at 1 p.m.
