BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State (7-8-2) women's soccer team bounced back in a big way with a dominating 6-0 win at Salem (0-14-1) on Sunday (Oct. 29) at The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgport, W.Va.

Six different Falcons netted goals in the win. The Falcons outshot the Tigers 27-1 and tallied 16 shots on goal while limiting Salem to one lone shot on goal. Olivia Johnston picked up the win and made a save as the Fairmont State defense recorded their sixth clean-sheet performance of the season.

The Falcons broke open the scoring early when Serenity Thomas scored an unassisted goal in the 12th minute. FSU struck again in the 23rd minute when Filippa Stalhammar scored her first goal in a Fairmont State uniform that was assisted by Tegan Wheeler. Freshman Isabella Maldonado found the back of the net for the fourth time in her freshman season in the 26th minute that extended the Fairmont State lead to 3-0. Fairmont State added one more goal in the high-scoring first half when Thomas directed fellow freshman Lauren Dye on a pass and Dye kicked the ball into the net for a goal. The Falcons led 4-0 after one half of play.

Kylee Kosek finished a goal in the 65th minute that was assisted by Kiera Kuzinski that added to the Fairmont State lead. Ava Behr wrapped a bow on the Falcons' big day and scored her second penalty-kick goal in the 90th minute to give the Falcons the 6-0 win.
