FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Fairmont State (7-9-2, 5-8-1 Mountain East Conference) women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale to Frostburg State (15-1-2, 11-1-2) on Wednesday (Nov. 1) at Bobcat Stadium in Frostburg, Md.
The Bobcats outshot the Falcons 23-8 and compiled 13 shots on goal.
Olivia Johnston came away with eight saves on the night.
Frostburg State wasted little time and struck in the third minute when Madison Allen scored an unassisted goal.
Serenity Thomas fired a shot in the 13th minute that hit the right woodwork. The Bobcats extended their lead in the 20th minute when Morgan Mrizek assisted Carly Gillette on a goal.
In the second half,
Alejandra Puerto registered a pair of shots within the first 15 minutes of action. Johnston stepped up with a save on a Frostburg State penalty kick in the 60th minute. The Bobcats added to the lead in the 60th minute on a goal by Catherine Smith. The MEC North Division winners scored two goals in less than two minutes to seize a 5-0 advantage and went on to capture a win in the regular season finale.
The Fairmont State women's soccer team will play at top-seeded Charleston on Sunday (Nov. 5). The game time will be announced by the MEC at a later time.
