Falcons Drop Game to Glenville State in High-Scoring Contest

Kylee Kosek, Tristen Bright and Alejandra Puerto all scored for Fairmont State.

GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State (4-6-1, 3-5-0 Mountain East Conference) women's soccer team fell at Glenville State (4-4-3, 2-4-2 MEC) 4-3 on Sunday (Oct. 8) afternoon at I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium in Glenville, W.Va.

The Pioneers outshot Fairmont State 16-5 and had eight shots on goal compared to the Falcons' four. Olivia Johnston made four saves in goal for Fairmont State.

After a Glenville State goal in the 16th minute, Kylee Kosek scored an equalizer in the 17th minute that was assisted by Gabi Madrid. The Falcons took the lead in the 39th minute when Tristen Bright scored her first goal of the season. Fairmont State held a 2-1 lead at the midway mark of the game.

GSU managed to score a pair of goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half and seized a 3-2 lead. The Pioneers extended their lead to 4-2 in the 85th minute when Irene Robles scored a goal with an assist by Noella Garcia. Alejandra Puerto netted a goal in the 90th minute to trim the GSU lead to one. The Pioneers secured a 4-3 win over Fairmont State.

The Fairmont State women's soccer team returns to Duvall-Rosier Field on Wednesday (Oct. 11) for a match versus Charleston at 7 p.m.
