CANTON, Ohio -- The Fairmont State swimming program wrapped up its fall slate at the Malone Invitational. The men's team placed fifth of 14 teams while the women's team earned a third-place finish out of 12 teams.
On the women's side, the Falcons recorded a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Alicia Perez, Lexi Antol,
Cheri Signorelli and
Zoe Hoover recording a 1:41.52.
Mia Abruzzino was the top finisher in the 1650 free after touching the wall in 18:03.70 and Perez finished fifth at 18:41.60. Hoover placed sixth in the 'A' final of the 50 yard free at 25.09.
Kayla Fogle registered a 1:02.40 in the 'A' final of the 100 yard butterfly for seventh place. Abruzzino continued her strong weekend with a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.75 and Perez finished behind her with 1:59.59. In the 100 yard backstroke, Lexi Antol was the only swimmer to finish under one minute and completed the race in 59.77 for first. Hoover added points for the Falcons with a third-place finish in the event at 1:01.10.
The relay team of Hoover, Perez, Antol and Abruzzino fired a second-place performance in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 8:16.56. Antol finished fifth in the 200 yard IM at 2:22.02. Abruzzino collected another top five finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a fourth-place finish at 5:19.40.
Ashlyn Bennington logged a 2:19.20 in the 200 yard backstroke for fourth place. Hoover clocked a 54.77 in the 100 yard freestyle for fifth place and
Cassidy Driver qualified for the 'A' final in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:41.62 for sixth place. Fogle reached the podium in the 200 yard butterfly for a second-place time of 2:23.50. The Falcons completed the event with a second-place finish in the 400 yard medley relay (4:12.99)Â and a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle.
On the men's side, the Falcons placed second in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Gabriel Peragallo, Zack Bishop,
Grant Ridenour and
Patrick Fubio teammed up for a time of 1:25.84. Peragallo placed third in the 50 yard freestyle with a 20.95. Fubio earned a second-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.22. Peragallo won the 200 yard freestyle by almost four seconds and touched the wall in 1:41.72.
Chris Hoover made the 'A' final in the same event and placed eighth (1:52.33). In the 100 yard breaststroke, Bishop placed fourth with a time of 58.65. Fubio broke the Fairmont State school record in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 49.39 and placed first.
Carter Redelman placed sixth in the event at 53.23.

Adam Fubio and Gallardo firing a 7:50.52.
Patrick Fubio, Bishop, Ridenour and Peragallo earned a second-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Ridenour secured a seventh-place finish in the 200 yard IM at 2:02.06.
Patrick Fubio continued his strong weekend in the backstroke with a win in the 200 yard backstroke at 1:51.87. Peragallo tallied another first-place finish with a 45.40 in the 100 yard freestyle with a 45.40. In the 200 yard breaststroke, Bishop fired a 2:13.57 for fourth. Redelman clocked a 2:05.00 in the 200 yard butterfly for fourth place. Fairmont State took fourth in the 400 yard medley relay (3:34.32). The Falcons ended the event with a first place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The team of
Patrick Fubio, Ridenour, Hoover and Peragallo touched the wall in 3:09.53 for the win.Â
The Fairmont State swimming team will return to competition on January 20 when the Falcons host Davis & Elkins and Wheeling inside the Mahaney Natatorium.
