Men’s Basketball Successful at Glenville State

Men’s Basketball Clinches Road MEC Win 82-67

GLENVILLE, W. Va. – The Fairmont State men's basketball team (5-3, 2-2 in Mountain East Conference play) traveled to Glenville State University (4-4, 2-2 MEC) where they clinched a conference victory 82-67 on Wednesday (Dec. 6) night.
 
Zyon Dobbs led the Falcons with 16 points and 3 assists. Tommy Williams had 13 to go along with four rebounds. Seth Younkin dominated on the boards with nine rebounds. Cameron Whiteside finished with 11 points and dished out 7 assists. Callum Crossman notched a career-high 10 points, while David Jolinder had eight points and two blocks on the night.
 
The Pioneers broke out to an 8-3 lead over the Falcon. Colin Comer came through with a triple to help FSU back with 14:21 to play in the first. Both teams were evened at 11-11 with a jumper from Dobbs. Comer added another bucket while teammate West drained a three to put Fairmont State ahead 16-11. Dobbs hit a triple to jump ahead of the Pioneers 23-14. GSU hit three unanswered scores until Whiteside nailed a shot from behind the arc with 6:43 left in the first half. Jolinder recorded a put back layup to maintain a five-point lead for the Falcons. Callum Crossman came up with five consecutive points, 2 layups and a free throw. Williams notched a layup to put the Falcons up 42-25 at the half.
 
FSU maintained offensive control after buckets by Younkin, Dobbs, and Tyheil Petersen to make the score 49-30 with 16:29 left in the game. Crossman and Jolinder claimed a layup to continue the pressure over the Pioneers. With 11:48 to go, Crossman recorded a dunk to make the score 60-32. Dobbs had back-to-back buckets with a layup and a free throw. Cameron Whiteside hit two free throws to keep the Pioneers in a 17-point deficit. A jumper by Williams, and four free throws by Whiteside helped close out the FSU win 82-67.
 
Up Next
The Fighting Falcons will be back at Joe Retton Arena to host Bethany next Wednesday (Dec. 13). The game is set for 2:00 p.m. against the Bisons.
