BELMONT, N.C. – The Fairmont State (5-0) acrobatics & tumbling team remained undefeated and won a tight match, 260.515-259.145, versus Belmont Abbey (3-1) on Saturday (March 11) at the Wheeler Center in Belmont, N.C.

The Falcons trailed heading into the team event and won the team event to capture the fifth win of the season. Belmont Abbey was ranked No. 10 in the NCATA preseason poll.

Fairmont State held a slight lead after the Compulsory event, 36.85-36.65. The Toss heat team scored an impressive 9.75 out of 10 possible points to help the Falcons jump out to the lead. Fairmont State increased its lead in the Acro heat after winning the event 27.20-25.85. Katey Koel,

Elizabeth Maurer posted the highest score in the event, a 9.35, and the Falcons maintained the lead. Belmont Abbey won the Pyramid event, 28.65-27.80. The Synchronized Pyramid team scored a 9.70 out of 10 possible points to lead Fairmont State. At the break, the Falcons led by less than a point, 91.85-91.15.

Fairmont State was victorious in the Toss event and won by a tenth of a point, 26.70-26.60. The 450 Salto team of Koehl,
Sophia Del Greco, Izaria McWhorter-Martin,
Brylee Knotts,
Alexa Wilson and
Peyton Barnes scored a 9.35 in their event. BAC won the toss event, 51.225-50.175.
Zara Christophe earned an impressive 9.225 in her 6 Element Pass routine. The contest was decided by the team event that concluded the night. The Falcons scored a 91.79 while the Crusaders finished with a 90.17. After the scores were totaled, the Falcons won 260.515-259.145.
