MARIETTA, Ohio – The Fairmont State (1-12) baseball team dropped a three-game set to the reigning East Super Regional Champions Southern New Hampshire (10-4) this weekend at Don and Sue Schaly Field at Pioneer Park in Marietta, Ohio.

Game One – Southern New Hampshire 16. Fairmont State 4
Connor Bailey drew a walk to begin the top of the first inning and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Bailey advanced to third on a groundout and scored on an RBI groundout by
Noah Canterbury to put Fairmont State ahead, 1-0 after one inning.

The Penmen scored 12 unanswered runs through innings 2-7 to take a commanding 12-1 lead. In the bottom of the seventh,
Vince Sabatino ripped a triple that scored
Drew Hogue and Canterbury picked up his second RBI of the game that scored Sabatino from third. SNHU padded its lead with four runs in the ninth. Canterbury racked up his third RBI of the contest with a sac fly and the Falcons fell, 16-4.

Fairmont State compiled 11 hits in game one, but left 10 runners on base. Sabatino, Canterbury,
Alex Perez and
Ryan Goff all totaled multiple hits.
Alex Tennant, Canterbury and Perez each had a double and Goff swiped two bases.
Connor Cramer fanned three batters in five innings of work and surrendered four earned runs.

Game Two – Southern New Hampshire 11, Fairmont State 0
Two Penman crossed the plate in the top of the first inning to give Southern New Hampshire the lead. Perez and Tennant singled to start the second and fourth innings respectively, but the Falcons were unable to move a runner past first base. SNHU posted four runs each in the fifth and sixth innings and tacked on one in the seventh. Perez led off the seventh inning with his second double of the day. Fairmont State was held scoreless and SNHU won 11-0.

Perez led the Falcons with two hits while Tennant and Bailey each added a knock.
Andrew Coursin and
Logan McClure both struck out four hitters each.

Game Three – Southern New Hampshire 13, Fairmont State 0
Bailey and Tennant led off the first inning with base hits for the Falcons but were left stranded on base. The Penmen scratched across a pair of runs in the third inning.
Brett Haskins poked a single to start the third inning, but SNHU led 2-0 after three.

The visitors added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings and jumped ahead 6-0. Hogue walked, stole second and advanced on a balk with no outs. The Falcons were unable to bring him home and the Penmen kept the Falcons scoreless. SNHU continued to score and totaled seven runs in the span of innings six and seven and completed the sweep with a 13-0 win. Seven Falcons recorded hits in the final game of the series.
