Jovon Jackson Voted MEC Defensive Player of the Week

Jackson caused two turnovers at West Liberty Thursday night.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Defensive Back Jovon Jackson of the Fairmont State football team was selected Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Sept. 11).

Jackson, a junior from Gainesville, Va., forced two turnovers in the Fairmont State victory at West Liberty on Thursday night. Jackson picked off a pass in the first quarter, which gave Fairmont State favorable field position and led to a touchdown on offense. At the end of the third quarter, Jackson jarred the football loose from a Hilltopper at the Fairmont State 8-yard line to prevent a red zone opportunity for WLU. Jackson added seven total tackles and two pass break ups in his performance versus the Hilltoppers. The Falcons earned a 42-29 road win in the MEC opener at West Liberty

Fairmont State football will return to Duvall-Rosier Field on Saturday (Sept. 16) to face Wheeling at 1 p.m.
