FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Fairmont State (3-3-1, 2-2 Mountain East Conference) soccer team fell to Frostburg State (7-0, 4-0 MEC) on Sunday (Sept. 24) afternoon at Duvall-Rosier Field in Fairmont, W.Va.

The Falcons kept Frostburg State scoreless in the first half. The Bobcats netted two goals in the second half and limited Fairmont State to two shots all game.

Delaney Haller made her first start in goal for Fairmont State and made three saves in the first 30 minutes of play. The Bobcats totaled four shots in the first half and held Fairmont State to zero shots. After 45 minutes of play, the Falcons and Bobcats remained in a scoreless tie.

Fairmont State earned a corner kick opportunity early in the second half but it was well-defended by the Bobcats. The Bobcats scored at the 61 minute mark when Toni Fiocco-Mizer found the back of the net for a Frostburg State goal. Carly Gillette fired a goal in the 65
th minute to extend the Bobcats' lead to two. Isabella Maldanado and
Tristen Bright both aimed shots that were off target for Fairmont State. Haller made a save in the 80
th minute to keep it a two-score game. The Falcons recorded another corner kick and a shot by
Gianna Baldino in the 85
th minute. Frostburg State kept a clean sheet and earned a road conference win.

The Fairmont State soccer team travels to Beckley, W.Va. for a midweek MEC match versus Concord on Wednesday (Sept. 27) afternoon. The Mountain Lions and Falcons will begin play at 1 p.m.
