Kiera Kuzinski and
Alejandra Puerto scored their first goals of the season as the Fairmont State (3-4-1, 2-3-0 Mountain East Conference) women's soccer team fell on the road to Concord (4-2-1, 4-1-0 MEC) on Wednesday (Sept. 27) at the YMCA Paul Cline Complex in Beckley, W.Va.

Concord outshot the Falcons 21-8 and recorded 14 shots on goal to go along with 11 corner kicks. The Mountain Lions posted a pair of goals in the first 11 minutes of action. Kuzinski found the back of the net to get Fairmont State on the scoreboard in the 12
th minute with an assist by
Lauren Dye to trim the CU lead to one. Concord tallied two additional goals in the opening period to push the lead to 4-1. Right before the final buzzer, Puerto launched a ball past the 'keeper to cut the Concord lead to 4-2 after one half of play.

In the second half, Concord totaled 15 shots and kept applying pressure offensively. The Mountain Lions increased their lead to 6-1 within the first 15 minutes of the second half and finished the period with two additional goals.
Delaney Haller made six saves in the second half.

The Fairmont State women's soccer team will host West Virginia State on Sunday (Oct. 1) on Senior Day at Duvall-Rosier Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from Fairmont.
