Preview: Fairmont State Football Prepares for Homecoming Matchup Versus Post

The Falcons will battle the Eagles at Duvall-Rosier Field on Saturday (Sept. 30) in the 2023 Homecoming game.

The Matchup
• Fairmont State (3-1) is set for its 2023 Homecoming matchup versus Post (0-4) at Duvall-Rosier Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 30). 
• The game will be broadcasted live on MEC TV. Fans can tune into SKY 106.5 FM with the voice of the Fighting Falcons Travis Jones on the call with color analyst Chris George. Live stats will be provided on fightingfalcons.com.
• Fairmont State is coming off of its first victory over Notre Dame (Ohio) since the 2016 season after stunning NDC 17-14 in South Euclid, Ohio last week. Fairmont State snapped NDC's 18-game home winning streak with the win.
• Saturday's matchup is the first meeting between Fairmont State and Post, with Post starting its football program in 2021. Saturday's game is the Falcons' final non-conference game of the 2023 season. Fairmont State edged Bloomsburg 34-30 in the first non-conference game of the season.
• The Falcons have won their last nine Homecoming games, dating back to the 2013 season.

Fighting Falcons Facts
• As a team, Fairmont State leads the MEC in passing yards per completion (16.91 yds/completion), net punting (35.56 yds/punt), punt return yardage (24.0 yards/return), kickoff return yardage (23.25 yards/return) and blocked kicks (5). The Falcons' five blocked kicks are the most out of any team in the nation through four games.
• The Falcons' rushing attack has been in rythem all season long. Fairmont State averages 201.3 yards per game on the ground, which is the second-highest mark in the MEC. Three Fairmont State rushers rank inside the top 15 in the MEC in rushing yards. Dereik Crosby II enters this week fourth in the MEC with 248 total rushing yards. Leonard Farrow ranks sixth with 217 yards and LeJay Hatcher is 12th at 165 yards. Fairmont State has tallied nine rushing touchdowns, with Crosby II, Farrow and Michael Floria all scoring a pair of TDs on the ground.
• Floria was Fairmont State's leading rusher verus Wheeling and finished with a career high 112 rushing yards. Floria crossed the goal line after a 25-yard scramble in the third quarter versus the Cardinals. The junior from Prince Frederick, Md. has totaled 41 completions for 701 yards and six touchdowns. Will Adkins made his first appearance in a Fairmont State uniform in the second half versus Notre Dame College. The Glenville State transfer completed two passes for 26 yards. 
• Kobe Harris scampered into the end zone for a rushing touchdown at NDC last time out. In the first half versus Wheeling, The Atlanta, Ga. native returned a punt 74 yards for a punt return touchdown. Harris is the Falcons' leading receiver and has racked up 263 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He ranks 16th in the country in averaging 23.9 yards per reception.
• Sophomore wideout Winston Page hauled in seven receptions for 74 yards and two scores versus NDC. Page has totaled 223 receiving yards and averages 13.9 yards/reception. 
• Gage Michael has caught seven receptions for 157 yards in his first three games donning the Maroon & White. The Kent State transfer and Fairmont native caught a 15-yard pass from Floria to put Fairmont State ahead 42-16 early in the third quarter at West Liberty.
• Defensive Back Eltayeb Bushra earned MEC Defensive Player of the Week honors in week four after nabbing two interceptions and recovering a blocked kick in the Falcons' win at NDC. The junior from Herndon, Va. has recorded 18.0 total tackles and has a pass breakup and a fumble recovery this season.
• Jovon Jackson won MEC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11 after creating two turnovers in the week two win at West Liberty. The junior from Gainesville, Va. has forced two fumbles and has picked off a pass to go along with 30 total tackles.
• Brocton Blair leads the Fairmont State defense with 35.0 total tackles. The Honorable Mention All-American from last season has added four quarterback hurries, two pass break ups and 2.0 tackles for a loss. Jackson (30.0) and Tyrees Smith (25.0) have racked up 20 or more tackles for the Fairmont State defense.
• Nemo Roberts, Donovan O'Malley, Randy Robinson and Bryce Mumphrey have each recorded a sack. 
• On special teams, punter Scout Arthur earned MEC Player of the Week honors last week after averaging 41.4 yards per punt and placing three punts inside the 20-yard line. The AB transfer has averaged 40.3 yards per punt and has placed nine punts inside the 20-yard line. Placekicker Emmanuel Richardson has made four field goals, including a 43-yard try, on the season. Matt Pack and Jackson lead the MEC in blocked kicks and have blocked two kicks each. 
• Fairmont State Head Football Coach Jason Woodman is in his 11th season leading the Falcons. He secured his 55th career win on Saturday at NDC and is the second-winningest football coach in school history. 

Scouting Post
• The Post University Eagles have started the 2023 campaign with an 0-4 start and are in their third season of competition on the gridiron. Post is playing the '23 season as an independent and will join the Northeast 10 Conference at the start of the 2024 season. The school is located in Waterbury, Conn. and has an undergraduate enrollment of 14,944. 
•Junior running back Isaiah Emmanuel is Post's leading rusher, totaling 158 rushing yards. Simon Burkett has completed 42 passes for 494 yards and three touchdowns while throwing nine interceptions. Wideout Josh Tracey has accumulated 202 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns in the first four contests of the season. 
• Jadyn Fleeting (33.0) and Elijah Osei (32.0) are the leading tacklers for the Eagles. Emanuel Higgins has tallied one interception for Posts' defensive unit. 
• Adam Schultz is the head coach of the Eagles. Schultz was previously the offensive coordinator at New Haven.
