FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The Fairmont State University swimming teams hosted its final home dual of the season against Notre Dame College. Both the women's and men's swimming squads were victorious with scores 160-74 and 172-60, respectively at Feaster Center Pool in the Mahaney Natatorium.
Prior to the afternoon's meet, the team honored three seniors:
Kayla Fogle,
Cheri Signorelli and
Trevor Gallardo.
The women's team started the day with a win in the 400 Medley Relay as the grouping of Lexi Antol, Alicia Perez,
Kayla Fogle and
Zoe Hoover swam with a time of 4:23.50.
Mia Abruzzino picked up wins in the 1,000 Free (11:26.09), 100 Fly (1:01.70) and tied for first in the 100 Free (55.42). Abruzzino tied with Hoover in the 100 Free while Hoover also won the 100 Back, hitting the wall in 1:04.55.
Perez kept the wins coming for Fairmont State as she won the 200 Free with a time of 2:05.98. She also took home the win in the 500 Free (5:39.11) and the 400 IM (5:07.86).
The other wins for FSU came from Fogle in the 200 Fly (2:31.74) and from Signorelli in the 50 Free (26.86). Fogle as finished second in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:44.83. The final win came in the 200 Free Relay as Hoover, Antol, Signorelli and Abruzzino combined for a time of 1:41.13.
On the men's side, the quartet of
Patrick Fubio, Zack Bishop,
Zachary Groe and
Gabriel Peragallo won the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:44.97.
Patrick Fubio had an incredible day as he set the Feaster Center Pool record in the 200 Back with a time of 1:54.16, claiming first-place. He also claimed the top spot in the 100 Fly with a time of 54.60.
Carty Ramsay won the 1,000 Free with a time of 11:26.68 while also taking first in the 100 Breast (1:07.70).
Grant Ridenour took home wins in the 100 Back (55.00) and the 400 IM (4:27.76).
Carter Redelman had a strong day with a win in the 500 Free, hitting the wall in 5:00.46. Redelman also won the 200 Fly with a time of 2:03.31.
Gabriel Peragallo claimed wins on the afternoon in the 200 Free (1:47.84) and 50 Free (21.09).
The men's team capped off the day with a win in the 200 Free Relay as Bishop,
Chris Hoover, Gallardo and
Patrick Fubio swam the race in a time of 1:32.92.
Fairmont State heads to Buckhannon, West Virginia on Friday, February 2 to face West Virginia Wesleyan. Start time is set for 5:00 p.m.
