FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University women's soccer team welcomed Davis & Elkins College to Duvall-Rosier Field on Senior Day. The Falcons defeated the Senators, 2-0.

Fairmont State (7-5-1, 6-4-0) dominated the possession of the ball in the first half and out shot Davis & Elkins (1-11-1, 0-9-1), 9-1. Four of those shots for the Falcons were on goal but each one of them were stopped. At the half, the match remained scoreless.

The home side kept the offensive pressure going in the second half and it paid off in the 50th minute. Braylyn Sparks took a corner kick and placed the ball in front of the net as Tricia Lemasters headed home the ball for the opening goal.

About 10 minutes later, Lemasters attempted another shot on goal but it was saved. As the defender tried to clear the ball, it found Serenity Thomas as she scored from about three yards out to make it a 2-0 match. The Falcons were able to keep the ball either near midfield or in their offensive zone for the remainder game to win by the two-goal difference.

Fairmont State hosts West Liberty University on Wednesday, October 23 with a 7:00 p.m. start time.
