FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The Fairmont State acrobatics and tumbling team opened the 2024 season against Glenville State. The Falcons were victorious over the Pioneers, 269.145-259.390.
Fairmont State (1-0) started strong with a win in the Compulsory round, 37.30-36.20. In the acro heat, the squad of

Reghan Mollohan,
Izaria McWhorter-Martin,
Brylee Knotts,
Rylee Vinson,
Olivia Daniels,
Kassidy Price,
Alexa Wilson and
Elizabeth Maurer kicked off the day with a score of 9.40. The Falcons also led in the pyramid heat (9.70-9.65) and the tumbling heat (8.65-8.05). The toss group also posted a score of 9.55.
In the Acro round, Fairmont State outscored Glenville State in all three heats. In the 5 element, the team of Smith, McWhorter-Martin,
Natalie Moore and Wilson scored a 9.50 out of a possible 10.00. Overall, FSU led the Acro round, 28.05-27.50.
The Pyramid round was next as the Falcons scored above 9 points in all three events. The team of Smith, McWhorter-Martin,
Hope Kiszka, Magdeline Giglotti, Wilson, Daniels,
Alexis Wilkinson, Knotts and
Jessi Wolf posted a 9.70 out of 10 in the open heat. Fairmont State edged out Glenvill State in the event, 28.55-28.50.
Following a short intermission, the second half kicked off with the Toss round.
Taylor Openlander, Katy Koehl, McWhorter-Martin, Wilson, Mollohan and Price put together a score of 9.55 out of 9.90 in the open heat. The Falcons picked up another win with a score of 27.65 to 27.05.
The Tumbling round was up next for both squads. Fairmont State had another strong showing led by Koehl in the open event as she posted a score of 9.775 out of 10.00. FSU won the event, 54.125-48.850.
In the team event, the Falcons sealed its win with a score of 93.47 out of a possible 103.52.
Fairmont State will welcome West Liberty University to campus on Sunday, February 25. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
