FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The Fairmont State University acrobatics & tumbling welcomed Hawaii Pacific University to Joe Retton Arena. A tightly contested meet between the two squads, the Falcons came out on top, 262.075-258.935.
In the opening round of the Compulsory Event, Fairmont State edged out Hawaii Pacific by .45 points (37.30-36.85). In the toss heat, the groups of

Kaylee Rehak, posted a score of 9.80 with a start value of 10.00.
For the Acro Event, the Falcons outscored the Sharks in two of the three heats as the team posted a total of 27.25. FSU was awarded higher scores in both the Five Element and Six Element heats.
Wrapping up the first half was the Pyramid Event with Fairmont State posting a 28.45 compared to 28.20 for Hawaii Pacific. In the open heat, the home side received a score of 9.70 with a start value of 10.00. At the half, Fairmont State led the visitors, 93.00-91.25.
Out of the break, the Toss Event was next as this was the lone event the Sharks posted a better even though it was by a tenth of a point (26.90-26.80). For the open heat, the team of Openlander, Koehl, McWhorter-Martin, Wilson, Mollohan and
Olivia Daniels posted a score of 9.60 out of 9.90.
For the penultimate event, the Tumbling Event, the Falcons totaled a higher score, 53.175-52.725. Openlander took the floor for the Aerial Pass and earned a score of 9.275 out of 9.55. Concluding the event, Koehl posted a score of 9.750 in the Open Pass with a start value of 10.00.
Coming down to the team event, the two teams continued to go back and forth. Hawaii Pacific posted a score of 88.06 while Fairmont State totaled a score of 89.10, completing the wire-to-wire win.
Fairmont State (4-0) heads to Erie, Pennsylvania on Monday, March 11 to face Gannon University. Start time is set for 5:00 p.m.
