GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Fairmont State University softball team hit the road to face Glenville State Univesity. The Falcons struggled offensively as they fell to the Pioneers, 3-0 and 1-0.
Game One: Glenville State 3, Fairmont State 0
From the start, Fairmont State struggled to get anything going on the offensive side. Meanwhile, Glenville State scored the first run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single up the middle.
The Pioneers added a run in the bottom of the third before scoring the final run in the sixth inning. The Falcons did not collect a hit until the top of the seventh but did not advance a runner into scoring position.Â
Despite the loss,
Allyson Nordling pitched six innings, allowing three runs (all earned) on seven hits.
Game Two: Glenville State 1, Fairmont State 0
The second game was a pitchers duel as both starters allowed hits but did not allow run across for the first three innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Pioneers broke through with an RBI single. The Falcons best chance game in the sixth inning with runners on first and second with one out. Unfortunately, the team was not able to plate a run.Â
In the game,
Delaney Haller pitched six innings and allowed the lone run on five hits with five strikeouts.Â
Fairmont State remains on the road on Sunday, April 14 for a doubleheader against Concord University. Game one is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
