WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The Farmont State University baseball team wrapped up its four-game stint against West Liberty University. The Falcons captured both games, 7-4 and 8-2.
Game One: Fairmont State 7, West Liberty 4
Cameron Sheets gave Fairmont State the lead in the second inning when he scored on a wild pitch. The Falcons maintained the 1-0 lead until the top of the fourth when
Micah Canterbury scored on a throwing error.
Zane Loveday held the hosts hitless until the bottom of the fourth but they were unable to score a run. In the fifth, FSU added to its total when
Noah Canterbury doubled to left center as
Ryan Goff and
Quintin Smith scored. After a pitching change,
Cameron Sheets homered to left center to make it a six-run (6-0) advantage.
West Liberty got on the board in the fifth with a two-run homer to left field. The Falcons left two runners on base in the top of the sixth while the Hilltoppers scored two runs on a single down the right field line.
Sheets delivered another long ball, to left center once again for a three-run lead, 7-4.
Mac Schnur entered the game and allowed a lone single but picked up the save and the win for the visitors.
Loveday went four innings, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts. Sheets was a perfect 4-4 with three RBI and scored three more times.
Game Two: Fairmont State 8, West Liberty 2
Fairmont State repeated its feat from game with scoring the first run in the second inning.
Noah Canterbury singled followed by a Sheets double down the left field line.

Vince Sabatino lifted a ball to right that allowed
Noah Canterbury to tag up and score.
In the top of the third, the Falcons pieced together a couple of hits and a walk to load the bases. Coming to bat was Sheets and with one swing, hit his third home run of the day to instantly give the team a 5-0 lead.
The visitors carried the momentum in the fourth when
Quintin Smith laced a ball down the left field line was
Zach Brennan scored and on the same play, an error allowed Goff to score.
Leading 7-0, the Falcons and Sheets added another run as Smith scored on the first baseman's single through the right side. West Liberty added two runs on three hits in the seventh but the rally was halted there as FSU won by the six-run difference.
Sheets finished the game 3-4 while driving in five runs and scoring once.
Logan McClure started on the mound and tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five.
Fairmont State will host Frostburg State in the final home doubleheader on Friday, May 3. Game one is slated for 1:00 p.m.
