FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The Fairmont State University men's basketball team will begin the 2025-26 season ranked No. 5 nationally in the NABC/Division II Coaches Preseason Poll, announced Tuesday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The Falcons are coming off a 27-5 season overall and won the MEC Tournament Championship over West Liberty in triple overtime. Fairmont State reached the NCAA Atlantic Regional last season.

Fairmont State is one of two Mountain East Conference programs ranked in the preseason top 25, with West Liberty debuting at No. 11. Across the poll, 63 schools from 23 Division II conferences received votes.

The Falcons open the 2025-26 season on November 14 against Bloomsburg University for the Joe Retton Classic.
