Falcons Record Eighth Shutout of the Year

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University was victorious over Salem University with a 13-0 victory on Wednesday at Duvall-Rosier Field.

The first half commenced with Fairmont State quickly establishing control. Serenity Thomas opened the scoring in the 8th minute with an assist from Montserrat Diaz, setting the tone early. Olivia Lowther doubled the lead shortly after, with Payton Parliament contributing an assist.

Fairmont State maintained offensive pressure, with Parliament netting a goal in the 16th minute, assisted by Colletta Hardman. Diaz further extended the lead to 4-0 before the 19th minute, assisted by Thomas. Ava Yannucci and Claire Schenkel added goals before the end of the half, bringing the score to 6-0 at halftime.

The second half began with the Falcons maintaining offensive pressure, as Valentina Gianinetto's early shot hit the woodwork. The attack was relentless, with Addyson Nose scoring twice, at 54' and 56', with the latter assisted by Gianinetto, extending the lead to 8-0.

The Falcons continued to capitalize on their opportunities, with Gracie Courtney and Gianinetto adding goals, assisted by Stephanie Pedias and Reece Oliver, respectively. The home team widened the gap further, reaching a 10-0 lead.

Further goals from Fairmont State included efforts by Parliament and Rania Hazri, both assisted by Oliver and Yannucci. Nose completed her hat-trick with a final goal assisted by Hazri, bringing the final tally to 13-0 by the end of the half.

Nose recorded a hat trick with three goals and led the team with six shots, four of which were on goal. Hazri contributed with one goal and two assists, while also tallying four shots on goal. Thomas scored a goal and assisted on another, adding a total of three shots with two on target. Lowther found the back of the net with her only shot on goal.

Fairmont State (12-1-2, 9-1-2) hits the road for the final two games of the season starting on Sunday, November 2 at West Liberty University. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
