Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season With Draw at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. — Fairmont State University and Frostburg State University played to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday at Bobcat Stadium. The Falcons managed nine shots, with four on target, while the Bobcats recorded six total shots, three of which were on goal.

The first half commenced with Fairmont State taking early control, with Olivia Johnston making key saves to keep the home side at bay. The Falcons capitalized on their opportunities in the 32nd minute when Valentina Gianinetto scored, assisted by Payton Parliament, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Despite the initial advantage, Frostburg State responded with a goal by Cassidy Paige in the 43rd minute, leveling the score. The teams entered halftime tied at 1-1 after a competitive first half.

The second half commenced with the Falcons actively seeking opportunities to break the deadlock. Tatiana Mayumi initiated the offensive effort with a shot just two minutes into the half, though it sailed over the goal. Gianinetto and Serenity Thomas each forced saves from the Bobcats' goalkeeper Kayla Doty, maintaining pressure throughout the period.

Despite several attempts, the Falcons couldn't convert their chances into a decisive goal. Frostburg State managed a few counterattacks but were similarly unsuccessful in altering the score. The period ended with neither side able to gain the upper hand, concluding the match in a 1-1 draw.

Gianinetto scored one goal and led the Falcons with four shots, two of which were on target. Parliament contributed with an assist, setting up a key play for the team. Johnston, in goal, recorded two saves in the first half, facing five shots and conceding one.
